Leisure Time activities in Madrid

 

Our objective is to bring you closer to the Spanish language and culture so that you will improve your linguistic knowledge through direct contact with the country and its people. To this effect we combine the communicative teaching method with a broad cultural programme, a formula in which we believe both parts should have an equal importance.

Our cultural events - such as our literature workshops, slide shows, museum visits and many excursions - are organized in such a way that you will plunge into the most varied aspects of Spanish culture and automatically use and improve your language skills.

In Madrid:

• Guided walk in the heart of the city on the first day of your course
• Thematic city walks, e.g. Madrid of the Habsburgs, legends of the old Madrid, the Retiro Park
• Convents and palaces
• Visits to exhibitions and museums (Prado, Reina Sofia, Thyssen)
• Theatre, concert, dance events
• Madrid’s nightlife with its bars and cafés
• Visits to local companies
• Public holiday programme on days without lessons, e.g. to see Easter processions or city festivals
  

• Musical programme
• Spanish film programme
• Art exhibitions by local artists
• Slide shows
• Wine-tasting
• Cooking workshop
• Talks and readings on social, political or historical topics
• Literature workshop: discussing works of Spanish and Latin American writers
  

Outside Madrid:

• Half-day excursions to castles and royal palaces (La Granja, Aranjuez, El Escorial, etc.) or to Castillian villages
• Whole day excursions (Sat. or Sun.) to Toledo, Segovia, Alcalá de Henares, etc.
• Weekend excursions to Salamanca, Sevilla, Extremadura, etc.
• Guided walks in the mountains of the Sierra de Madrid
• Cycling and horse riding trips
  

The teachers will accompany you and guide you in all workshops, on excursions and other events. Most activities will be prepared and followed-up.

Many of the above mentioned events are included in the course price. Extra payment is required only for wine-tasting, cooking workshops, entry fees and excursions.
